DESCRIPTION:Watch Art Happen — Live! \nPearl Horng creates an original work of art live and in full view. \nBring a hat\, sunscreen\, and a lawn chair\, and enjoy a front-row seat as the artwork comes to life from start to finish. \nMeet the artist\, ask questions\, and experience the creative process up close. \nARTIST SHORT BIO\nPearl is an impressionist painter based in Virginia who creates paintings that are energetic\, expressive\, and characterized by a deliberate balance between rendering and abstraction. She began working in oils over a decade ago while she was studying medicine\, driven to pursue a dream she had as a child that she could no longer set aside. \nShe continues to balance her life as an ER physician and as a professional artist. Pearl is particularly drawn to scenes with movement and a strong sense of light\, enjoying the feeling and energy of brush in hand as an extension of her spirit. \nHer work has been accepted into multiple American Impressionist Society exhibitions including most recently the National Juried exhibition in 2025. She has collected various distinctions at plein air events along the east coast and was awarded the Gino Award (Best in Show) at Paint It! Ellicott City in 2022.

It was while studying for my BFA at Maryland Institute College of Art that an interest in oil painting emerged.\nArt has always been a vocation for me – as a portrait and caricature artist in Ocean City\, MD\, art director at a sign company\, teacher and freelance court illustrator. I steadily participate in paint outs and plein air competitions and have received numerous awards including a “Judges Choice” award at Plein Air Easton 2024.

SUMMARY:Jeff Steiner demonstrates in Beaufort - Historic Architecture - corner of Ann St. and Craven St.
DESCRIPTION:Watch Art Happen — Live! \nJeff Steiner creates an original work of art live and in full view. \nBring a hat\, sunscreen\, and a lawn chair\, and enjoy a front-row seat as the artwork comes to life from start to finish. \nMeet the artist\, ask questions\, and experience the creative process up close. \nARTIST SHORT BIO\nIn Jeff’s career as an architect\, he began his creative process with quick ink and marker sketches\, learning to express design concepts with simple graphic images. This evolved into a fascination of painting with the immediacy and expressive opportunities of watercolor. Today\, he quickly captures the essence and mood of street and landscape scenes with a bold\, impressionistic approach. \nMoving to a downtown Minneapolis condo in early 2020 facilitated his love of Plein Air\, riding his scooter exploring and painting street scenes. He has combined his love of travel and painting by entering Plein Air competitions around the country\, winning numerous awards along the way.

Painting outside en plein air is my happy place. I aspire to be a painter of light\, focusing on how the sunlight plays across the side of a building and how shadows stretch across a landscape\, giving viewers the impression and atmosphere of a place\, not a photorealistic image of that place. \nOne of my paintings won the Honorable Mention – Enthusiast Class by Thomas W. Schaller in the November 2025 BoldBrush Competition. Another of my paintings was juried into the New England Watercolor Society’s 2025 New England Regional Juried Exhibition.

She taught me how to draw- or how to see. As a homeschooler\, daily sketching from life\, reading French poetry\, playing the violin\, raising goats\, snakes\, eating exotic foods and camping across America are some of the colorful experiences that shaped the painter I am today.

SUMMARY:John T. Eiseman - MENTORED PLEIN AIR EXPERIENCE
DESCRIPTION:Paint alongside. Learn deeply. See differently.\nMay 12\, 13 & 14\, 2026 \nWith decades of experience as a professional artist and a distinguished history in plein air painting\, award-winning painter John T. Eiseman offers a rare opportunity to engage in a mentored\, immersive plein air experience. A graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art (Magna Cum Laude\, 1981)\, John has painted since his teens\, earned numerous awards\, and been featured in major national exhibitions.. \nThis experience begins with one demonstration by John\, setting the tone and shared visual language for the days ahead. From there\, the focus shifts away from formal instruction and toward painting alongside the mentor—working on location together in an environment that encourages observation\, experimentation\, and personal growth. \nOver three full plein air sessions across two days (morning and afternoon)\, participants will develop multiple paintings while receiving individualized guidance. John works one-on-one with each artist\, meeting them at their current level and responding to their specific needs\, questions\, and goals. Rather than prescribing a single approach\, he helps artists learn how to truly look\, how to translate observation into mark-making\, value\, and color—and how to tell their own unique story through painting. \nThe experience concludes on Thursday morning with a gallery talk and group critique\, offering thoughtful feedback and introducing the shared language of art in a supportive\, conversational setting. \nDesigned for both beginning and advanced painters\, this mentored experience invites artists to bring their own plein air setup and preferred media. The emphasis is not on producing finished works\, but on deepening perception\, strengthening visual confidence\, and developing an authentic artistic voice. \n ” Painting is not just the celebration of vision but\, rather a quest for experience. In this sense\, my painting is not a recording of facts seen. It is the process of interpreting a fleeting muse.” \nMay 12\, 13 & 14\, 2026\nFULL TUITION – $300\nRESERVE TODAY WITH $100 DEPOSIT\nTerms & Conditions of NC Plein Air Workshops \n\nFOR MORE DETAILS OF WORKSHOP
