Greg Barnes demonstrates pastels on the waterfront – Queen St at Front St – New Bern
May 13 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am
Greg Barnes got his formal training at Wake Forest University, receiving a BFA in 1985.
Following college, Greg entered a career path that included technical illustration, computer graphics, computer-based training, and multimedia programming.
Throughout those years, Greg always kept his art supplies close at hand.
In 2002 after 911, he and his family took a leap of faith by pursuing a full time fine art career. Among his first commissions were portraits, where pastel became his medium of choice. Greg enjoys painting on location, and as a result of working quickly, leans towards impressionism. Strong design and a bold use of color round out Barnes’ style.
Maintaining a studio in Charlotte NC, Greg travels the country doing art festivals, plein air events, and teaching workshops.
