Rajendra KC
Rajendra KC is a contemporary realist watercolorist celebrated for his mastery of transparency and expressive brushwork. Inspired by nature, he captures fleeting light and atmosphere in vibrant plein air paintings. Originally from Nepal, Rajendra developed his skills through self-study and now teaches watercolor while exhibiting internationally. His paintings are held in private collections worldwide. Recent honors include Third Place at the 2025 Door County Invitational Plein Air and multiple awards at national festivals, affirming his reputation as a distinguished and inspiring plein air artist.

Biography
Rajendra KC was born in Lalitpur Kathmandu, Nepal. As a child, he studied basic painting courses at the Sirjana Contemporary Art Gallery in Kathmandu, Nepal. After, he self-studied developing his own unique watercolor techniques and style. His talent for painting became apparent when he was in seventh grade, and since then painting has become his lifelong passion. Rajendra grew up in the capital city of Nepal, Dhobi ghat, Kathmandu, where he lived for 35 years before coming to the United States. He worked during the week for the government in Nepal, and on the weekends he would travel to different parts of the country where he enjoyed painting from nature and capturing the local landscape. Rajendra moved to the United States with his family and now lives in Falls Church, Virginia where he keeps a studio. He is an active member of the Falls Church Art, Inc. (FCA where he conducts classes as a painting instructor. In season, he also paints every Saturday morning at the Farmer’s Market in Falls Church. Rajendra is primarily a watercolor plein air artist, but he also likes working in oil and acrylics. His paintings are in many private collections in Nepal, United States, Canada, India, China, and several European countries. He was rewarded and honored as the best artist in many art competitions and has achieved many awards.

I am a watercolor artist inspired by the beauty of nature and changing light. My work reflects contemporary realism with transparent washes and expressive brushwork, capturing fleeting moments with depth and emotion. Painting en plein air connects me deeply to each scene. I was honored with First Place at the Floyd Plein Air Biennial 2024 and several awards in 2025, celebrating my passion for watercolor.
